The Overview screen of the system contains information about all events occurring in the monitored information systems.
Filtration of the displayed information by Service Model maps is available, separately by CI set and by period of time.
The time scale allows to choose the time period for which information is displayed in the Status over time and Events of the period blocks.
The time scale has boundaries and set intervals. Boundaries represent the time span within which the user can select time intervals for displaying events, and the size of the slider corresponds to the interval.
To set the boundaries, click on the calendar icons at the beginning and at the end of the scale and select the required date in it.
The time span and interval are set independently of each other, however, if you select too small or too large an interval for a given time span, Monq will automatically change the span, and vice versa, if the set time span do not correspond to the selected interval, then the interval will be changed automatically and a corresponding notification will appear.
To change the time period within which information will be provided in the Status over time and Events of the period blocks, the user needs to use the slider, the length of which corresponds to the selected interval. To set the interval, click on the desired interval icon:
If the interval switch is set to the "Live" position, the slider in the time span will move to the edge position ending with the current moment in time.
To customize the displayed set of CIs, press "CI Set" in the upper left of the screen and select an available Map in the “Service Maps” tab or select CIs manually on the “CI Selection” tab.
Configuration of Service maps is available only on the CMDB & Service Model panel (see details).
To set priority and duration of the displayed events on the Overview screen open the "Filter" panel. Check the allowed priorities and specify the minimum duration for the event in seconds, minutes, or hours then click Apply.
On the main screen in the Status over Time panel, only the selected systems were displayed.
If you activate the "Only with problems" switch, systems in which no events were registered for the selected period of time will not be displayed.
In the panel Events of the Period only events of the proper priority for the selected systems and with the specified filter will be displayed, for the selected period of time. If you activate the "Active only" switch in the "Change view" tab, completed events will not be displayed.
To save the filter, open CI Set, press "Save", enter the name of the filter name and press "Yes".
To use a saved filter, click on its name next to the "CI Set" panel.
The widget "Status over Time" allows you to see the status of all systems for a selected period of time.
Due to the color differences in the priorities of events, the dynamics of their occurrence and solution for each CI are visible. The color is determined by the highest priority event.
When you hover the cursor over a specific rectangle that displays the state of a specific system at a specific time interval, you will find out the number of events of each priority for the selected CI at this specific time.
To access the widget "Status over Time", in the upper right corner of the functional area, open the corresponding widget by clicking on the icon.
After that, the icon will change and the required graphic block will become available.
In order to display only those groups of monitoring objects for which a monitoring event was registered within the specified time period, do the following:
In the upper right corner of the functional area, change the state of the toggle switch:
As a result of using the filter Only with problems, only groups of monitored objects with problems within the specified time period will be displayed.
If, with the active state of the slider Only with problems, a priority filter is applied, then the screen will display the state of only those CIs that had events of the corresponding priority.
When you click on the name of the CI, you go to its card. The card contains basic information about the CI and detailed information about events, incidents, planned works and functional tests associated with it, as well as uploaded files.
If you click on a rectangle highlighted as Problematic, then the events related to it will be displayed in the "Events of the Period" block.
The widget «Events over Time» is designed to display information about the number of events that were active during the selected period. This block is a set of histograms, which displays information on the number of monitoring events for a certain period of time, divided by priority.
All installed filters are applied to this block, if the filter is set to display events of only 1st priority, then events of lower priorities will not be displayed.
If the user clicks on one of the chart zones, the Events over time graph will display the dynamics of events for this priority type, and in the Status over Time block only CIs with events of the same priority will be displayed, the same goes for the Events of the Period widget.
To access the widget «Events over Time», in the upper right corner of the functional area, open it by clicking on the icon. After that, the icon will change and the desired graphic block will become available.
The widget «Events of the Period» allows you to quickly view information about events that have occurred for a selected period of time, create alerts on them or register incidents in the HPSM system. Information about the event contains: the priority of the event, the name of the CI for which the event occurred, the name of the synthetic trigger, the start time and duration.
If an event is registered in the HPSM system, the identification number of the incident will also be shown, additionally there is the possibility of a detailed view of the event.
Before the name of the CI there is an icon corresponding to the type of the CI.
In this widget, it is possible to additionally filter events by active and inactive. To display only unfinished events, tap Change view, then toggle Active Only.
It is possible to filter the list of events by part of the name or the full name of the event (the name of the synthetic trigger by which the event was generated).
It is also possible to filter events by priority, Ci, parent CI, event name, start or duration of the event (these actions are performed by LMB clicking on the corresponding column).
The Actions column contains information about the actions performed on the event. The division is made into three types:
When you hover the cursor over the icons Bell, Exclamation mark or Parentheses, the Actions column will display information about actions that were performed in automatic mode based on events, for example, an incident was registered, an alert or a script was executed. In addition to the icon, with a description of the performed action, information about the rules and actions by which the operation was performed is displayed.
From the widget «Events of the Period» you can manually send a notification about the event or send a request to HPSM to register the incident.
On the overview screen, you can also add tags to multiple events at once. To do this, select the events to which you want to assign a tag and click the "Add a tag" button.
You can choose a tag from those already created by users, or specify your own.
For manual notification about generated events:
{Event CI name}: {Host name}: {Zabbix trigger name (accounting for *Zabbix* macro expansion)}
To register an incident based on an event:
Select an event.
Click "Create".
Select "Incident" (if an incident for the selected event has already been registered, the message "All events are already linked to the incident" will appear).
Fill in the fields of the incident creation form:
{Event CI name}: {Host name}: {Zabbix trigger name (accounting for Zabbix macros expansion)}
The Description field is open for editing. To avoid errors, it is not recommended to make edits to the system information.
Create an incident.
Please note that when manually creating and linking incidents to monitoring events, the start and end dates of the event are not added to the additional HPSM fields.
The widget «Events of the Period» allows you to save events into a .csv and .xlsx file. To save events, click the "Export" button and select the required data file format.
After choosing the format, the file is automatically generated and uploaded to the user's device.
To view detailed information about an event in the «Events of the Period» widget, click on the eye icon next to the event record.
Detailed information about the event is divided into several blocks:
The user can view the log of the execution of notification operations for a specific event.
To view information, you must:
By default, information about "Notification" is opened.
The operational screen is a separate implementation of the widget “Events of the period” of the Main screen (see main article).
Unlike the widget on the Main screen, all events displayed on the Operational screen are either active or ended no more than 15 minutes ago. Therefore, on this screen, you will not be able to filter the set of displayed events by time or activity.
The user can disable the automatic loading of new events with the corresponding switch in the upper right corner of the widget.
